Downgrade and upgrade Windows Server 2012

Good afternoon! There is a non-trivial task for me to migrate users from 2003 to the new 2012.
The utility for ADMT migration is not declared as supporting 2012, but I will try to run it on virtual machines.
The question is - can I install a 2012 server, downgrade to 2008R2, and then upgrade to 2012 again?

I haven’t tried it myself yet (I just installed 2012), but it didn’t take off in the topic - social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverMigration/thread/6f9010f4-084d-41ca-b8ff-f0919c488cb5
And in the list of requirements here - technet .microsoft.com/en-us/library/active-directory-migration-tool-versions-and-supported-environments (v=ws.10).aspx 2008p2 is specified in the platform
