Dot in email

Why doesn't Google treat the dot in an email address as a symbol? Does it meet the standard? Why, then, do other mail servers do this?

Called normalization, by standard the dot should be taken into account, but Google does not pay attention to it for security reasons, so that it is impossible to create a similar email like john.doe and j.ohn.doe.

Also, Google doesn't care about case. And does not allow the creation of accounts with "_" and "-". I think one of the reasons is so that no one can create addresses similar to someone else's (for example, your) address.

and in Google you can put + and write anything you want. For example, a letter to [email protected] will be sent to [email protected]

It always amused me that they take into account the dot in the login.

Damn, I'm struggling with the mail collector and I can't understand why gmail doesn't want to pick up mail from another gmail where there is a dot...
