Does the Intel Core i7-7740X support 8 DDR4 slots?
I have the following hardware:
Motherboard: Asus Prime X299-Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core i7-7740X
RAM: G.Skill DDR4-4133 16384MB PC4-33064 (Kit of 2x8192) Trident Z RGB (F4-4133C19D-16GTZR) 2 sets, 4 8Gb sticks.
The crux of the issue is this: There are 8 DDR4 sockets on the motherboard, 4 of which are already occupied. I want to add 4 more brackets to the empty slots, but there are doubts that this configuration will work. Since at the moment the first 4 connectors (those to the left of the processor on the board) refuse to work for some reason. That is, if you insert, for example, the current 4 sticks from the right slots into the left slots, it gives a memory error when loading.
The memory is overclocked by XMP, the frequency is set to 3200. For some reason, 4 bars do not start at 4000, although 2 worked fine.
I can’t understand whether this is some kind of problem with the motherboard, or this processor refuses to see / support all 8 slots.

On the asus website in the documentation (p. 21) it is drawn and described how to insert modules and in which slots they work with a certain number of installed modules.
Before formulating your question (regarding the number of processor cores), read the instructions.
The question itself is stupid. This question is similar to: "Does the presence of a brain support the skull?". Of course, this processor supports 8 slots Yes, at least 16, the main thing is that they be in 2-channel mode and the total amount of memory is not 64GB.
Well, let's start with the fact that the processor runs at a frequency of RAM:
The minimum frequency of RAM is
1600 MHz The
maximum frequency of RAM is
2666 MHz It will not start at higher speeds since the limit is
2666. It will not work on:
Also, pay attention to how you installed the memory.
The processor works in 2-channel mode."THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THERE IS ONLY 2 MEMORY" These are Two channels with 4 slots. On the Motherboard, the slots are colored (gray; black). What would work specifically, fill completely 1 channel. That is, fill the memory slots in gray or black, or two at once. Since dividing in half will not work.
That's all I wanted to say.
Thank you for your attention. All the best.
