Does it make sense to install a proprietary video card driver in ubuntu?

Video card 740M, by default it is X.org X server, is it worth switching to proprietary from nvidia. Steam is, I can play, I'm interested in performance, and indeed. There is a game LIMBO - slows down, hl2 - norms.

Worth it if you want to play.
PSXorg does not go anywhere.

Without proprietary drivers, you won't run nVidia Optimus. You will not notice any more differences if you are just an advanced user. Do you need Optimus or not - decide for yourself, google to help.
