Does it make sense to have more FPS if the monitor refresh rate is 60Hz?

Actually the whole question is in the title. Let's say you only play one game that has FPS unlocked. Let it be a shooter. Does it make sense to chase super high frames per second if the monitor only supports 60Hz?
Come to think of it, there's not much difference on a 60Hz monitor between 70 and 250 FPS. So?

From my own experience, I can say that no matter how stable fps seems, it will not be 100% stable. In any case, there are situations when a drawdown occurs. At what, it doesn’t matter from what: the memory of the card is clogged, operational, loading from the railway, the video chip does not have time to render the required number of frames.
I answer the question: you need more than 60. If you play an online project, in his case it is important to update the image as quickly as possible. Even on a 60 hertz monitor, more fps will be good. Due to the fact that with the next update of the picture, a more "fresh" frame can be shown, which means that you will always have a fraction of a second advantage over the enemy. Yes, in order to take advantage of this, you need a remarkable reaction, but this may affect your result. When it comes to single-player games, then stable fps is more likely to be needed for comfort. This can be achieved with a 60 hertz monitor by limiting fps to a higher number than 60. For example, 65, or 70. What you get in this case: less chance of seeing "frame tearing"; in case of a drawdown, fps may not drop below 60.
Please check on your own experience, and I hope you will see that everything is as I described.

I always set the limit to 60 frames. Why force the computer to give out more than 60 FPS if the monitor itself cannot give you more than 60 frames. For example, I have Stalker: Call of Pripyat not weakly raised the temperature of the vidyuhi to 70 degrees (for reference: the temperature of my vidyuhi in any games does not rise above 65 degrees), while the FPS was somewhere around 200 FPS. I turned on the vertical, thereby limiting the FPS to 60, and the temperature immediately dropped.
IF YOU ARE A SIMPLE DEATH PLAYER, THEN YOU DO NOT NEED A FRAME RATE MORE THAN 60 FPS. DON'T HURT YOUR COMP

In the comment , the sim3x hint is clear, I think?
Blocking FPS at 60 can be detrimental to performance, provided that the game will experience drops in this FPS. For example, with an FPS of 200, a drawdown of 50 will not affect the picture in any way. At 60, a drawdown even by a couple of units will be noticeable.

With vertical sync, frametime increases significantly. In online shooters, ideally, turn off the vertical camera, and turn on Fast-sync in Nvidia. Therefore, the difference between 120 fps and 60 at 60 Hz will be visible.

The answer to your question will be an interesting moment with the game quake champions where the rate of fire of the gun depended on the number of frames per second. And in the general case, just a plank image becomes
