Desktop configuration for work?

You need a work computer update.
I haven't been following desktop hardware for a long time. Yesterday I sat down to choose something and realized that I had climbed into a swamp ...
The tasks in general are as follows:

  1. Visual Studio 2010
  2. Delphi 2010
  3. Outlook in tray
  4. Chrome all the time, Firefox and IE sometimes
  5. A pair of running WinXP virtual machines (VirtualBox)
  6. At times Photoshop and Inkscape, Word, Excel and Visio
  7. Terminal sometimes
  8. Well, the little things ... Notapad ++, TotalCommander and other auxiliary

Now Pentium 4 3GHz, RAM 2Gb, Radeon X300 256Mb. It seems to work, but somehow everything slows down (:
What do you recommend?

Core i5 2xxx, 8gb ram, sdd (for system). Everything else as you wish :)

@Napseg

i5 2500, 16gb ram (since it's cheap), built-in video will do. hards according to your own needs.

yes, for example, ASUS P8Z68-V has 3 connectors - DVI, D-Sub, HDMI.
i5 2xxx (2500k or 2400, for example from the middle price range) - the best price / performance ratio.
ddr3 8Gb+ 1600MHz+
SSD 80Gb+ Intel/Corsair
Something like that.

I recently assembled a car for myself, took an i5 2500K, 8GB, a 120GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD and a 2TB WD Green for files. I installed the Scythe Big Shuriken cooler on the CPU - a fairly quiet solution. Of course, in toys, the computer becomes well audible, but this is already the merit of the vidyushka. And in quiet work, everything is very pleasant, even despite 2 more low-speed coolers in the case.

i7-2600, corsair hydro for processor, zalman Z9 case, quiet power supply (but with a cooler).
SSD - OCZ vertex 2 and 3. Well, or if you have money - take Intel's G3.
To taste, add WD Green of the required volume under the "media files".

Here is one to one almost completed minus the HDD. Cooler I'll take a look, thanks.

Intel socket 1155 platform, 8 gigs of RAM, it’s better not to skimp on the cooler - take a large low-speed one,
everything else according to personal needs and budget

@vedmaka

the most budgetary and productive — i7 920 + Scythe Mugen cooler. No noise.

@Laroy

Very simple advice - look at laptop configurations. You can assemble exactly the same configuration in a desktop version for half the price.

I would recommend that you consider a miniITX platform. Compact and nice cases, modern CPU, 8GB of memory (2 brackets).

@Vladson

Under such requirements, everything is simple ... a
smaller HDD, a built-in vidyuhu, a faster processor / memory.
