Does contextual advertising affect SEO?

For as long as I can remember, the answer to this question has been a definitive no.
The question arose due to a call from a web studio offering a promotion.
Me: How will you promote?
They: Let's launch contextual advertising.
Me: How will it help?
They: improve PF.
Me: we have several services that are being promoted, but this did not affect the positions.
They: they need to attract thematic traffic there.
Ok, as I understand it, thematic traffic needs to be attracted from the search by articles in order for it to count. At worst, connect coworkers. But the context?

Directly, of course, contextual advertising does not affect the promotion of the site. But SEO is affected by behavioral factors that can be raised quite quickly by any source of targeted traffic that is interested in your site. This source can be any advertisement or any natural traffic. Contextual advertising can also serve as a source of quality targeted traffic.
Another thing is that in addition to behavioral factors, you should also think about technical, semantic optimization, optimization of commercial factors and UX, and no one has canceled external optimization.
Moreover, if your site is not very good in terms of UX and commercial factors, then contextual advertising will not be useful at all, as PF will remain shitty.
Therefore, if they are going to do SEO only due to the context, then they are unlikely to be good specialists.

I don't see any reason why PS can't use context to evaluate PF. If the studio can use the context to highlight the audience that will not return to the search when moving from the PS, then it is quite reasonable for the PS to improve the ranking of the recipient for similar queries.
It’s a completely different question whether this will significantly affect a not young site that already uses other promotion methods, I think it won’t change the picture much .. But, as always, it all depends on many other factors ..
SEO in general is such a science - today one thing works , tomorrow another, after tomorrow the third ..
