Does charging matter? Stupid question about AA batteries?

There are AA 2500mAh batteries
There is a charge on which it is written:
AA 500mA
AAA 300mA
Question: 500 and 300 is the current that is being charged or a warning that do not put more than 500 and 300 capacities depending on the size?
I just bought expensive AA and dug up an old charger in the trash, which doesn’t know for sure that there are accs of such a capacity. And something doubt crept in.

mA - current, mAh - capacity.

AA 500mA
AAA 300mA

This is the charge current. You can use.
The truth is still worth looking at what types of batteries it supports and what kind you have. Most likely Ni-Mh here and there, but you never know ...
