Does an information portal need a slogan?

Hello!
I plan to create an information portal and I have a question - do I need a slogan? When there is a brand and a product, then everything is clear - the slogan attracts attention, highlights features, conveys the main essence and increases sales. But with the site is not entirely clear. Is it worth spending 5/10/15k on a slogan or is it pointless?

Everything depends on the context.
To give correct advice, you need to know the subject of your portal and its main feature. Often, the use of a descriptive slogan allows you to quickly immerse the user in the context of the portal, especially if you call the portal an incomprehensible word. Like "Habrahabr" for example, it doesn't say anything to a beginner. Another thing is "Habrahabr - a community of smart IT people." In general, specificity is needed.

Not needed in this case.
Either it comes up on its own, or you can do without it.
