Does a security camera use more energy when you watch it or not?

There is a battery powered camera. By local ip, you can connect to the web face and watch.
According to my subjective observations, the more you look at the picture from the camera via ip, the more energy it spends and the less it works. If you do not connect and do not watch what is being done there, then the camera from one battery charge works directly for several hours longer.
Is there an explanation for this or is it my subjective fiction? Thanks in advance, I always choose the answer-solution.

Yes, more. When you connect to a camera, it sends a stream to the network. That is, the network card starts to work intensively, the camera processor is loaded more heavily.
