Do you need mathematics to create such effects?

Greetings.
Not so long ago I came across the Zorax channel. I really liked and even inspired his teaser ( SPOTLIGHT TEASER ).
All these effects, modeling - I really liked everything. As I understand it, math is needed here? Everything is bad with matan, but if for the sake of this she is needed, I will start teaching ( what exactly? )
Zs . I don't know what it was, but the eye was gorgeous on the video.

Most of what is related to various 3D scenes uses WebGL (most often through the three.js library). In addition, there are examples with different canvas effects.
Specifically, matan is not needed there, only linear algebra and analytic geometry. And, of course, knowledge of JS (and even C ++ in the case of emscripten)

You probably haven't heard anything about the modern demoscene yet. That's where the real effects and modeling)

The eye (© Artur Vill) was made, of course, not by "Zorax" (like everything else illuminated in the cut).
Mathematics is needed, but not particularly difficult. In most cases, trigonometry and a general understanding of functions are sufficient.

A good knowledge of school mathematics is enough. So far, I have not applied anything from the university in web development, although I know it well.
