Do you minify JS files for freelancing?

Hello everyone, I decided to try my hand at freelancing (frontend) and the question arose about the minification of scripts, but is it necessary? Before that, I worked in a company and this was not done there, moreover, anyone could climb in and read the comments on the code. I wouldn’t worry too much about this issue, but it’s not for nothing that there are so many articles and references to code minification on the Internet. Someone says that you need to do minification, because. there may be cases of brazen theft and appropriation of intellectual work under a false name.
It's just that there is an option to use turbo-minification on scripts when showing a demo on your host, and when the customer is satisfied, then upload the source to production?
I would be glad to hear a good answer.

@Fetur

is it necessary?

It is necessary, but not for the purpose of "protecting yourself from theft", non-minified sources must also be provided to the end client, since they are his property.
And here with the purpose of client optimization - yes, it is necessary. And therefore, during the demo, this is also necessary, so that you can run google pagespeed, for example, and enjoy good performance. For many clients this is a non-functional requirement - fast loading/rendering.

You need to protect your JS code legally. If the Customer ordered the functionality implemented by this code, you must grant him JOINTLY AGREED RIGHTS to use this code.

all frameworks already know how to minify everything themselves, or assemblers do everything
