Do you have an ipad, or would you like one?

Recently, the question of buying this device was asked, some write that it is an unnecessary thing that just lives in a bag, while others that it is a must-to-buy.
What is your opinion about it?

No, it won't.
I always have the feeling that Apple creates fashion. If you want to feel fashionable, buy an iPad.
Even after reading a lot of reviews, I still have not found the answer to the question - why do I need an iPad.
But then again, I'm talking about myself.
If you are the kind of person who can easily find the answer to this question - buy.

no, I won’t buy it ... until the second diamond is enough for me, and I would gladly change it to desire hd. And carrying two devices with you is no longer convenient ... and also a navigator in the car ... so in general 3 ...

If you have money, and most importantly desire - buy. In principle, this thing is relatively useless, although if you only surf the Internet, read mail, then this is more than convenient and pleasant.
Personally, for me, I would not buy it - I would get tired of it in a month, and for me it's an expensive show-off in the first place.

I have an iPhone 4. I have enough of it.
I know from acquaintances that you can’t really carry an iPad, it’s big. It's more for home use.

I don't, but I would like to. I won’t buy it myself, because The gadget is more useless than necessary. But it's attractive, yes.

Recently, I'm more inclined to buy an apple laptop (you can't program on the iPad). But I'll probably buy a pill later, too. the wife wants a tablet, and the child is growing up - there will be something to do with him))

It is strange that almost everyone considers the iPad precisely from the point of view of a “wearable” device that needs a keyboard, connection of flash drives, cameras, etc.
For example, I want (and will buy) it for myself at home in order to sit with it in a comfortable chair or lie on the sofa. I don’t know about you, but I get tired of sitting on a chair at work for 8 hours a day, I want to take some more horizontal position at home.
And the fact that he, they say, is only a fashionable toy or will get bored in a month - this is generally complete nonsense. This is (for a moment) an INTERNET tablet, you need it to read the Internet. With such logic, you will get tired of the Internet on any other device in a month!

No, and it won't be in the near future. I just don't need it? (and what is it for?) There is nowhere to surf, a laptop with a large screen at home.

There is not. And I'm not going to. I'm like Steve Jobs: nothing more! )
I'm sitting at home at the usual laptop, to which I bought a separate monitor, enough.
But if you are a mobile person or at home you ONLY like to read the Internet, buy it.

My father bought an iPad about a month ago. To be honest, I was afraid that he would not like it: he is a system administrator, and I thought he would take all the restrictions of iOS with hostility. After jailbreak and buying adapters for connecting cameras (after which it became possible to work with USB flash drives), the iPad became the #1 tool for work and leisure.
I also wanted to, but after buying an air macbook, I realized that this is not a masthead. If I had extra money, I would definitely take it, surfing, working with mail, films and working with music - all this is 100 points.

Was, I replaced the beech for the whole summer. There was not enough multitasking, if on the iPhone it is not so necessary, then on the iPad multitasking is a must have. With the purchase of a new beech, the need for an iPad disappeared - there was no desire to pay another $ 20 per month for the Internet, and Wi-Fi only in those places where I always have a beech.
If I had money now for an iPad and its contents, I would take it.

I have this device. I use it all the time, I no longer carry a laptop with me. the iPad turns on much faster, the battery charge lasts for a long time, it is much more convenient to get it in the car, look at the mail and answer it on it. I use it practically only for mail and browsing, and I often go to the server using it through the terminal, I helped people remotely through the team viewer a couple of times.
My opinion: if you constantly rush around the city like mad, and you need mobility of actions on the road, the device is simply necessary. If you just work on the home-office system, then, IMHO, this device is superfluous.

I carry my iPad wherever I can. Serves as a navigator in the car. At home - a reader, a gamer, a movie watcher. At work - task scheduler (OmniFocus app). In addition, due to the type of activity, it is often necessary to reboot the server, set up hosting, send an email, etc. Therefore, I also use it as a unix shell (I have it jailbroken).

If it had USB connectors and flash support, I would most likely take it, but alas, as they say, oh. Looking forward to something with "pearl buttons", maybe on Android.

I use it for:
1. Movies on the road / at home
2. Internet browsing
3. Read books on the road and at home (thanks to him I read useful literature on the road every day for about an hour and a half)
4. Mail - received / answered
5. Task Scheduler at work / at home
6. I write lectures on humanitarian subjects on it. Conveniently.
7. Toys are cool :)
For me, there were enough arguments to take it. It's been over a month now. I don't regret the purchase at all.

I would like to, but I can't figure out why yet :) So I'll wait for the beginning of 2011, when a new version will be released (according to rumors - one or two cameras, smaller size, higher screen resolution, possibly a USB host).

There is. Replaces my laptop for "content consumption" tasks. I read twitter and news on it at breakfast (via Pulse), write down things (OmniFocus, syncs with my phone and laptop). It's also a great device for reading books (iBooks, of course) and comics (ComicZeal). It became especially convenient after the advent of multitasking to read English-language books - you can quickly switch to the dictionary and look up an unknown word.
I also look through the mail and the web through it when I'm not working.
Office programs installed, but I can not say that I use them a lot. Possible, if there weren’t always a desktop computer nearby, I would use them more often.
Well, games, of course. Lots of great and cheap games
Of the minuses - the ever-dirty screen and the disgusting material from which the official case is made. Gets dirty even more than the iPad itself.

There is an iPad. In my opinion, it is much more convenient on business trips than a netbook. It's convenient to read the news in the toilet at home :)

M
myem, 2010-12-06
@myem

No. As stated above, I use a computer according to the work-home scheme, so I don’t feel an urgent need for such a “toy” either. For the road I plan to buy a reading room (maybe with bells and whistles). If the iPad or analogues fall to the cost of the reader, I will consider purchasing :).
In general, tablets with Android / Ubuntu inside seem to be more accessible :), and I'm not very susceptible to fashion.

I want a tablet (I flew with a beech this year), but it is unlikely to be an iPad - in my opinion, because of the money invested in its promotion and the general pricing policy of Apple, its performance characteristics are not worth the money (that is, or you can find for the same money a more powerful machine, or buy a cheaper one with the same characteristics).

Enjoyed. It is necessary and convenient only as an additional device to the main laptop or desktop, and then if the lifestyle is associated with frequent movements / trips around the city.
