Do I need to transfer the Russian-language pages of the site to the site.net/RU directory?

There is a Russian-language site with the conditional name site.net
It has pages:
site.net/1.php
site.net/2.php
..............
site.net/n.php
Come time to make the English section of the site and it will be like this:
site.net/en/1.php
site.net/en/2.php
...............
site.net/en/ n.php
Question: is it necessary, from the point of view of search engine optimization, to transfer Russian-language pages to the address site.net/ ru /1.php, etc.?
UPD: old links like site.net/n.php will redirect the site visitor to site.net/en/n.php

No not necessary in terms of SEO only if due to convenience

For the sake of order, I would move it if it was my cozy site that no one goes to or an internal corporate portal, but in production it’s better to leave it as it is because links to old addresses are already walking on the Web - it’s hardly worth breaking them.

The search robot doesn't really care. You can do it "for the sake of order", but most importantly, don't forget about sitemap.xml . Only days can be problematic until Google parses new pages.
