How to display meta description tag on category page in WordPress?
The question is not as easy as it seems at first glance, and yes, I read what they write in the search engine about this.
So, I am migrating a site with a forgotten CMS to WordPress. I transfer with the preservation of the address structure, layout, and so on. Actually, I was already nearing completion when I stumbled upon this problem.
Most of the articles on the site are, in WP logic, category title pages. I moved the articles to the description field of the respective categories, and configured the output of this variable in category.php.
But now I realized that some pages also contain a description meta tag, which also needs to be transferred.
All instructions on the internet talk about how to display the description field as the description meta tag.
And I need a separate field that should be displayed as a meta tag. How to approach the issue?
You can create a custom field for a post, but there is no such functionality for a category in WP. Maybe a plugin?

SEO Yoast. It adds its own MetaDescription field, which is stuffed into the header meta tags.
