Do I need to remove the battery from my laptop?

On the Internet, 50 to 50, someone says it’s better to shoot when off the network, someone says it’s not worth it. So how to be?

Don't be a slave to things - use it the way you want. Anyway, average laptop life = battery life = three to four years.

on modern laptops, the controller monitors the state of charge
with proper operation, there is no overheating of the battery
conclusion = why take out a free UPS from a laptop ?!

Lenovo laptops in their proprietary Energy Manager utility have a storage mode setting, judging by the description of which the battery charge will be maintained at about 55-60%. There is also a charging plan with a calendar where you can choose the days when you need to charge the battery to 100%, for example, before a trip or other activity without power outlets.
That's frozen :)

Asus K73 (17", i5), used as a desktop - a large monitor, keyboard, mouse are connected to it. Plugged in 100% of the time, the battery cannot be removed. 4 years in this mode - the flight is normal. Sometimes I carry it on trips - declared Initially, it still holds three hours, enough for a couple of films on the plane.

Of course not worth it. If your laptop is 20 years old, then it's better to take it off.

Not better.
Reason 1. Lithium batteries like to always be charged. If the battery lies somewhere and slowly self-discharges, this is not good
Reason 2. With regular removal and insertion, the battery case and the laptop are destroyed and at some point in time the battery will no longer hold in place.

When storing for a long time (more than a week), it is recommended to turn it off and store half charged in the disconnected state.

I usually take it out and keep it charged.
on my brother's beech, I even turned off the bios battery, set the clock settings to autoload. each time he sets the time. nephews constantly watch cartoons with mugs / bottles / food, if they accidentally spill - they pulled it out of the socket and immediately de-energized it.
