Do I need to Ping from VirtualBox to the main OS?

I decided to put the server on CentOS on a virtual machine. Ping from windows to centos - yes. Ping from centos to windows - no. Ping from centos to google.com - yes. The connection type in the virtual machine is Network Bridge.

The question is - should Windows ping from centos at all?

should Windows ping from centos at all?

Because Cent OS (VM) and Windows (host) on the same machine, then there will be pings between them. Another thing is that they can be blocked by the host or VM firewall.
If you need ping for something - you can get confused by this issue and adjust the firewalls.
But if you leave everything as it is, then nothing terrible will happen.
Specifically, in such a configuration, it doesn’t give a damn whether there is a ping or not. By themselves, pings are needed to determine the availability of a host over the network. But in your configuration, both nodes are a priori available to each other and there is no point in checking this.
