Do I need to know some patterns when writing web applications with node.js?

I know express and can write small apps in node.js. Do I need to know some common patterns in order to write more complex applications?
I hear words like mvc/mvp/mvvm all the time. I read it more than once, but I don’t understand anything, or rather I understand something, but I can’t map it to specific technologies. Do I need to know specifically these patterns?

If you are asking this question, then you are coming from the wrong side. You do not understand because you have not yet encountered the problems that these patterns solve.
Do not look for patterns, write complex applications, patterns will find you.
