design as design, you need to tweak some things (fonts, article width), in general, you don’t expect anything more from such a site (although you’re stuck on a rocket). For example, on Habré, there are no special design elements, everything is simple and clear. The design is focused on maximizing the readability of the articles.

Did you make the site for yourself or for users? If for yourself , then you don’t need to ask the opinion of others, if you want to change, change.
If they did for users , then first find out their opinion. Study the feedback, what they like, what is uncomfortable, etc. And make your decision based on that. No one writes - arrange a survey to identify weaknesses.
You have an information resource, not a personal portfolio site, so the opinion of visitors should be taken into account. If everyone likes everything, but still wants to change, then the design change should not be radical. It is necessary to make changes gradually (colors, styles, etc. are adjusted, leading to the intended result in several stages).
From myself I will say that the site is too gray and insipid. The content is difficult to read, and here is an example in the next answer: a person who is not an astronomer is stuck on a beautiful spillikin - a rocket - although it was the content that should have hooked him. Such a visit will be just another failure in the statistics)) Plus, for some reason, the “Main” is the same as everything else and is absolutely no different from the “non-main”. Compare at least with the sites of major media.
In general, if this is amateur, then decide for yourself. If plans to grow and develop, then you should approach it comprehensively and work not only on the design, but also on the structure of the interface and ways of presenting information, so that it would be interesting not only for amateur astronomers, but for everyone else =) The design is ordinary, nondescript average points on 4-5 out of 10.
UPD Written after viewing the main page. I looked at another page of the article, all of the above is relevant, only more work needs to be done on the convenience of presenting content. And this information is already for a whole usability audit)

1. Change the gray background to white until enough
2. Clicked on the counter, and flew up on a rocket ... glitch

1930s Times New Roman and Astronomy News are pretty funny together.
