Differences in updating MacOS and Windows?

WIndows 10 is updated when it wants to, you can postpone the update for a month.
Annoying is the fact that the system, in addition to updates, does something else in the background (for sure it collects statistics).
This is all very noticeable on a laptop (i5, RAM 6gb, SSD): in idle time, the cooler may start to make noise, small brakes during operation. There are no such problems on the stationary (r5 3600, RAM 32gb, SSD M2), but there are others: after the updates, the computer began to shut down longer, reboot longer (about a minute sometimes more), there were no such problems before the updates.
In this regard, I have questions:
do updates install themselves on MacOS too?
on MacOS often problems after updates?

Yes, often, especially when it comes to new major versions.

The last update on macOS Big Sur drank a lot of blood, although before that there was not a single complaint.
First, Java disappeared somewhere, then for a long time and tediously I wondered why EmbeddedPostgres stopped starting; it turned out, again, the libpq.5.dylib library disappeared somewhere
