Differences between Laravel 4 and Laravel 5 in the context of learning the framework?

Good day! I decided to use the Laravel 5 framework in my future projects, but there are not as many materials on it as on Laravel 4 (especially in Russian). I have basic knowledge of working with frameworks, because. I'm currently using Yii. I would like to understand how 4 and 5 versions differ. Does it make sense to study version 4? Or are the differences so great that you need to immediately take on 5?
Interested in examples of developing (documented) applications more complicated than "guest book" and "blog".

If you have a head on your shoulders, any lesson in the 4th version can be adapted to the 5th, using this information.
