Difference in ssh clients?

Why is it still being added somewhere?

Simple, cheap, well researched. If this is a stand-alone device with limited resources (well, very limited). Either as an alternative or last resort. For example. There is synology, it has ssh. Setting up ssh, I messed up - and ssh stopped running! The only thing left is the webmord, in which there is no access to the file. But there is an opportunity to lift a telnet. Picked it up, went in, did it, left it, turned it off...
The client or server can be called anything, even ZhopaSSH, two things are important:
- protocol
- cipher suites
Any client, when accessing any server, sends "I work on such and such a protocol and support such and such cipher suites", to which the server replies "and I - according to such and such a protocol, I support such and such sets. If they "agreed" - the connection was established, if not - a mistake.
If, when the client contacted the server, they saw a login request - that's it, there is a connection, you can work.
