There are more articles on PhoneGap on Habre - is it possible to say that it is better to start with PhoneGap?
Is the functionality of these platforms severely curtailed compared to what can be done purely on Andoid or exclusively for iOs?

Javascript (foungeps and others) is good when you want to try and feel the mobile market, but it is not suitable for serious applications, because hipster loves native and only native approach both on ios and on android.
