Dell storage (not necessarily Dell): Pools or Disk Groups?

Colleagues using storage systems, share your experience: what do you use, Pools (a separate abstraction level, in case of a controller failure, everything can be sad) or Disc Groups (just RAID)? We have a Dell MD3600f + 2x Dell MD1200 and am in the throes of choosing.

Isn't Disk Groups included in the Pool?
Usually such a chain of "encapsulation of abstractions"
hw.disk - (disk_group | raid | mdisk) - pool - lun - host
