d-Link DIR-300 & jabber
When using this device, there was a problem with qip (jabber part) - it constantly throws it out.
The search engines did not give definite answers. Maybe someone has come across this problem and found a solution (except for driving a nail into the dir or “changing ports” in the Jaber)

Same problem, same router. The problem was when QIP worked simultaneously with the torrent client, I turn off the torrent when I'm in QIP.
Hmm, on the DIR-300 I repeatedly encountered the inability to open individual sites (classmates, mail), and everything else worked perfectly. It was cured in two ways - by changing the firmware to a newer one from ftp://ftp.dlink.ru or by reducing the MTU size in the WAN settings. Didn't check on other jabber servers, maybe they're all right? Try both ways, maybe it will help you.
the owner of this device himself - there are no problems with Jabber and never have been. However, I don't use qip, I had google talk and jabber on my production server.
Are you sure it's DLink's fault? Is there a problem without a router?

Drive DIR-300, select revision, flash.
Have you tried increasing the timeout on the router? Or in qip to put kipelive?
If we discard the problem with incorrect port forwarding, then MTU remains, this is the only thing that comes to mind. Fragmentation of tcp packets occurs if their size exceeds the value of the MTU parameter on the router.
Hmm, this device has not been turned off for about two years now, everything is constantly running in different combinations and there are no problems. Look at something forbidden on the router, ports in the queue, proxy.
Same problem. I'm on Linux. Constantly reconnects irssi (irc client) and ICQ (kopete, qutim). Disabling KTorrent or connecting directly (not via D-LINK-300) solves the problem. Those. most likely a problem with a large number of connections on the router (in the torrent client there are more than 700 distributions). He doesn't cope. I'm waiting for the final release of OpenWRT BackFire to be released in order to reflash the router and test it.
Put 60 connections in a torrent and it will not be thrown out, checked. Dir-300 has been standing for the third year already, probably reboot once a year.
Are you sure the problem is with Dir-300 and not with your ISP? Look at the modem logs.
A similar situation with dom.ru in Yoshkar-Ola, they changed their equipment, after which the connection began to periodically break if you use routers, but if you use a computer, it does not break. Accordingly, the software that constantly transmits / receives something - connections are torn.
Proof link on the topic.
I ran into the same problem, sinned against the provider, did not think about the piece of iron.
Model DIR-300 Rev B1
Yesterday I installed DD-WRT as I replenish the Internet, I will check whether it will break on the new firmware.
For those who have this problem, try to transfer the ICQ client to port 443. If it doesn't help, you can try to remove the computer from the network to the DMZ, but this method will continue to crash for only one computer, that is, for all the others. If this does not help, you can try downgrading to 1.03 firmware. In the case of one of my friends, changing the port helped.
