CTF (CRC) - where to start?

I recently learned about such a thing as CTF. It became interesting, I read it briefly and wanted to try myself in this matter. But I don't know where to start. I understand that you need to know a lot and different things, but how to approach this big and different thing, from which side, which rope to grab onto?
