Cross-platform app development on PhoneGap, is it hard to debug?

I am going to use PhoneGap to build a cross platform app. Is it hard to debug it on mobile devices and emulators? What IDE do you recommend? (in iOS and Android priority)

hook the chrome debugger to your phone or emulator and debug. and in what they wrote - it does not matter.
