Creating an image of an ext3 partition for further system recovery from this image?

We have an ext3 partition on the disk with Ubuntu installed. Task: to archive the entire partition into an image "as is" on another disk, so that later you can simply restore the partition and get an already configured system. For example, by the type of utility Norton ghost for Windows.

clonezilla
dd
but in general it's more efficient to do it through rdiff-backup (or rsync) - with numeric-ids options. This is if you yourself are able to restore the bootloader.
