Converting to AI, how to fix?

I reinstalled Adobe Illustrator and ran into a problem that when I create a new document and try to transfer an .ai or .eps file with vectors inside there. When transferring, the file is converted to and loses possibly in editing curves. Silly question, but I couldn't figure it out myself.

If you transferred a file to illustrator, it is first of all made a link. If you need edits, open separately and transfer through the buffer.
