IPv4 - standard IP address of the form 127.0.0.1
IPv6 - IP address of the form 2001:0db8:11a3:09d7:1f34:8a2e:07a0:765d
You can take an additional IPv4 address for VPS if you want to raise your own DNS servers, or a separate IP for one site.
If I were you, I would buy IPv4 instead of IPv6 (if you need an additional IP address at all)
