Confused: phonegap or cordova?

I want to start learning how to create mobile applications.
html, css, js, etc. I know.
but google got confused: phonegap or cordova?
what's better? where to begin?
and in general there is a suspicion that this is the same thing :(

PhoneGap and Cordova have the same relationship as Google Chrome and Chromium, respectively. Apache Cordova is an open source project while PhoneGap is more of a framework built around Cordova. In addition, the PhoneGap infrastructure additionally provides such options as paid support, online training, as well as cloud web services that allow you to build the final application without the need for installation on the developer's local computer.
