Concentration of attention?

Recommend an article or book on attention span that you have PERSONALLY experienced and seen positive results. The Internet is littered with this waste paper, but there are few real reviews on them and mostly self-promotion of publishers.
Interested from the position of a programmer, how to write code so as not to be distracted.
So far, the first thing that has really helped is the purchase of closed-type headphones with good noise isolation. I coped with external noises, now there is a desire to get rid of the “internal” ones.
I started by blocking sites that I want to be distracted by and exercises - a black dot.

K. McGonigal - Willpower / . (by the way, the electronic English version on Amazon will cost less).
In general, a book about willpower (its physiology and psychology), but the very first exercise is devoted to developing the ability to concentrate. Works, checked.

2nd and 6th tracks help me wonderfully not to be distracted.
Blocking never helped me, if you block something yourself, then you can unblock it yourself.

You can go the other way:
- Create horrendous conditions, turn on loud music of the style you hate, invite more friends to have a drunken noisy party.
- Try to work in such conditions and understand that it is impossible to concentrate.
- Return the silence as it was before and understand how perfectly you can concentrate.
- Work, in case of doubt, repeat step 1

Personally, I have developed a conditioned reflex to certain music (in my case, it was hard rock). Just when it was necessary to code something, he turned on this music. I remember it bothered me at first. But now, as soon as I turn on this music, I immediately have an inexhaustible desire to only code and concentrate as much as possible. External noises are not distracting - they are simply not heard over the music.

I've been having a hard time concentrating while reading. Literally after 2 pages thoughts come up, and you no longer perceive what you read. Have to re-read. And this is repeated several times. I don’t know how to deal with it, reading turns into torture.

If you yourself are not interested, are you sure that you need to do this?
If something interests me, I don’t get distracted from it until I get bored or tired ...

I would advise you to study your mode, select temporary blocks with the highest performance, and then build everything around these blocks.
in "unproductive" time, you can afford to be distracted (but with control:)

Bicycling and smoking help me personally. After exercise, you obviously feel better, but about smoking, I want to say the following.
I do not want to advise anyone to start smoking, but when the situation is exactly as the author described, thoughts scatter - after I smoke, it immediately becomes calmer and you can work. As far as I understand, this is due to the properties of nicotine: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine#Pharmacodynamics
Moreover, I started smoking less than a year ago, before that I didn’t smoke for a very long time, so I can compare the “before” and “after” states. Further, although I smoke for less than a year, it is clearly longer than the time required for addiction, and I can say that the effect of smoking persists.
And finally, I don’t like that I started smoking, but I don’t know other ways to force myself to work, especially under the influence of stress. Before I started smoking, in moments of stress, I began to panic a lot and my work efficiency was greatly reduced, but now it is tolerable.
Why did I write this if I understand that smoking is harmful and I don’t want to smoke myself? Or maybe someone knows something that acts similarly to smoking on the nervous system but is not harmful?

Here is such a practice of Meditation (Vipassana can be viewed on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0mglQ3YAO8) helps a lot with concentrating the mind and increasing the performance and efficiency of any activity. And there is also calm music that will help relieve tension and stress, or will be useful during work.
