Components of a computer, in particular the processor, what to put?
Good afternoon. I'll start with the history of my computer.
This is 2007. We have moved to the city. And in a city without a computer? Went and bought.
We return to 2020. My father was always fixing the computer, he took him to different masters, replaced the cooler, changed the video card, or something like that, he did not report to me - I was small and did not understand any of the components.
Since my father, as it turned out, does not fumble very much in the computers themselves, he is weak. Sometimes it turns off while playing Counter Strike, it heats up incredibly during this.
And yesterday, I decided to open the computer and see its components.
...Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz, 2400 MHz, 4 cores...
So that was the problem! It looks like my processor has been with me for 12 and a half years! I puzzled over what was wrong with him, and the answer was right under my nose. From now on, I take over the computer.
But that's not what I'm here for. I have not yet delved into the components of computers, so I do not know what to put.
I would like to install Intel Core i5, I'm afraid I won't pull i7.
Video : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti.
Please tell me, what elements other than these help to lower the temperature and increase performance? I'm going to open the computer now to find out which motherboard is worth it.

See the compatibility of your motherboard with processors.
Usually this information is on the official website of the manufacturer, it is called QVL.
The temperature can be lowered with a normal cooler, the old one may have already used up the fan resource.
