Combining multiple physical drives into one volume on Mac OS X Lion?

The task is to combine several physical disks into one logical volume without redundancy (without RAID). At the same time, so that the recording on them goes sequentially and the death of one disk does not lead to the death of the array (if data is lost only on this disk, this situation is quite satisfactory). You also need the ability to add new disks to the array.
Found, but not suitable technologies:
"Combined disk array" in Disk Utility - when the disk was removed, the array became inaccessible (fell apart), data from individual disks could not be obtained (however, after returning the disk to its place, the array recovered)
LVG (analogue of LVM), via coreStorage (works only in Lion) is a rather crude technology, it was possible to create LVG from one disk, but unfortunately there is no way to add new ones to it (this function has not yet been documented).
There is also MHDDFS for Fuse, but it is not clear how to run on Mac OS X and how it will work there.
