Clean install of Yosemite. How to provide a backup?

I have a macbook 256 gb. I want to do a clean install of Yosemite, but I don't have a hard drive, can I create a new partition in Disk Utility and put all my files there, and reinstall Yosemite on the main partition?

It's possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is better to find a disk or upload the entire backup to the network.
