Choosing an operating system for a netbook?

Help, choose an operating system for a netbook.
There was a seven in the kit - well, it was painfully barely tossing and turning.
You can forget about YouTube, even the audio from VKontakte does not play.
I decided to stick ubuntu - wi-fi is not supported.
And I didn’t find any information about what kind of chipset is here (except for the company - atheros).
I think that in windows xp there will be the same garbage with firewood.
1. Can you forget about Linux at all?
2. What then to put - back the seven?
ps Netbook Lenovo S10-3s

Connect with a cable and in Ubuntu:
System -> Administration -> Hardware drivers
and install proprietary drivers from the manufacturer.

On lenovo s12, I calmly installed Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix, wi-fi worked, as they say, out of the box.
Now it costs WinXP, it works fine.
Drivers for your netbook (under winxp) are on the manufacturer's website

I have a lenovo S10-3t, the adapter is the same as yours. I'm sitting under Ubuntu 10.10, Wi-Fi works "out of the box" like clockwork. Nothing else needed to be configured for this. If it helps, I can look at the parameters of some thread in my system and throw it here

In Google it is written that you need to enable the repository of proprietary drivers.goo.gl/GkgRZ
Then try to update the drivers by first connecting the beech to the wire.

Under Lenovo netbooks, Linux systems are usually installed. It is strange that we have problems with Wi-fi, especially in Ubuntu.
Feel free to install WIndows XP - it's the most for netbooks.
If there are problems with firewood, we should have a disk with all the things attached to the netbook ... They will definitely work on Windows

If there was Windows 7 Starter, you can either demolish all antiviruses ( especially McAfee), or install a clean Home Basic. My friend's second point helped. Contra stopped slowing down on minimum settings

lenovo S10-2 Ubuntu desktop 10.10 everything works out of the box (except for the brightness control, but this feature doesn’t work for me in Windows)
