Choosing a laptop for my son

The son is seven years old. Plays a series of Lego games (pirates, star vortex, etc). Tired of constantly kicking me out because of my PC. I need to buy him a laptop. To cheap and cheerful. CHEAP and angry. They say that they don’t save on children, but I consider the very fact of buying a laptop for a seven-year-old asshole a manifestation of extravagance. In general, you need a cheap laptop that would run all sorts of Spongebobs and Jackie Sparrows.

PS Yes, I've never owned a laptop and don't know what they consist of. All hope is in you.

Buy him a wooden saber, a slingshot, a penknife and a stick with a puck. Or at least a soldering iron.
And I'm serious. If the real reason for the purchase is “I’m tired of constantly kicking me out because of my PC,” then by buying him a laptop you won’t see him at all, and everyone will be happy ... for the time being.

If he is now 7 years old, I advise you to buy him your own computer. At school, friends will not play with him - he will not break at his age. When he grows up, he himself will delve into the computer, update, etc., as many young boys do in general. And so in a couple of years you will have to fork out for a new laptop already for 20k, tk. the old battery will die, the cover will fall off and the railway will begin to crumble. Yes, and new toys will not work. But if there is a computer, enough to update the video card.

Buy from eMachines, Lenovo, Acer series. They are cheap (a fairly modern 15" model can be found in the region of 10,000 rubles) and quite good in quality for their price.

A little hint: take a Chinese tablet, as practice has shown, children like it more.

That's right, it's better to buy your own system unit for your child. I got my first 66 MHz at just 7 years old. At 8, I already rebuilt it and installed Windows from boot floppy disks. Now the child will develop a "duckling syndrome" - what he sees first, he will consider it a priority in life. It's better in the world with one more programmer. Buy him a 21" monitor for 4.5k, and a system unit with old hardware for 5k. And also, tell him that now this is "his computer". He
will be glad. PS I would be glad.

Please clarify your understanding of "cheap".

I'm for desktop used. Tablets / consoles - it’s obvious why they don’t fit (exactly those games that he is used to playing and that all friends play will not work). The laptop will carry everywhere, it will break faster, and it is more difficult to limit time at the computer.
So a desktop system unit with a Core 2 Duo and at least 3 gigabytes of memory with a discrete gaming video card and a larger monitor (just don't listen to IPS, it's utter nonsense. A regular one with a TFT matrix will go much better for games).
PS Well, be careful about how much time your child spends at the computer. Maybe even some books to read about this - at one time it was the computer that predetermined the sedentary lifestyle that I lead. This certainly has a bad effect on health and social adaptability. The ideal way out IMHO would be to find his favorite sport and write it down in the sports section. The main thing is that he did not work there through force.

If a child needs a computer only for games, then why not opt for game consoles? The Lego series, if I'm not mistaken, like many other children's games are on both PS and XBox. Or, as Urvin wrote , you can buy a tablet, not necessarily Chinese. Maybe Amazon Kindle Fire or Acer A100. Or pocket consoles, such as PS Vita.
I think that for your purposes, a laptop is too much.

Alternatively, you can buy a monitor + keyboard and mouse and make a second workplace on one system unit.
Although I will support the advice about ordinary toys and the smaller the computer, the better :-)

If you want cheap, then you can also look at the second-hand on Avito

I fully support IvanFF, but I proceed from the realities of the 21st century (mine are already over 20). Get your hands on the first non-3G iPad. It will cost 3-6 tr. Strong, easy to wipe off, no extra holes in the case, a lot of training software in the app store (censored!). For any PC you need a good monitor - IPS (8-12t.r.). The child will not sit still, like a rabbit in front of a boa constrictor. When tilting the head and squatting, standing up, the brightness of the image and color saturation will change. The eyes of the child will be constantly strained. In primary school, you will already try on glasses for him. Good luck.

I heard an ophthalmologist more than once told teenage visitors and their parents that in Japan, in educational institutions, children under 16 are allowed to use a computer 2 times a week for half an hour.

If you still stop at choosing a stationary one, I recommend looking at the overclockers forum (it's easy to find in a search engine).
List of forums » Technical support » Hardware selection » Complete system selection
Describe in more detail the task and the desired budget - they will help with the choice of equipment, links to stores. The most economical way to assemble "working, productive, for minimal money", especially if you yourself are not strong in hardware and there is no familiar tinsmith.
