Choosing a laptop

Welcome all!

Please help me in choosing a laptop in the price / quality ratio. There are no special requirements, but the laptop must be reliable. Will be used to work with spec. programs in the direction of accounting, databases, and, well, for entertainment purposes. I think in terms of reliability it will be most cost-effective to take Asus, although I haven’t decided yet.

Budget $700-800

If you are interested in reliability, I recommend at least taking a look at the Lenovo Thinkpad SL-series. These are cheap Thinkpads, of course, the T-series are inferior in terms of convenience, but in terms of reliability, all Asus and Acer win significantly. I was personally bribed by the presence of keyboard drainage - you can spill water and at least henna, enthusiasts conducted experiments :)
There is a real minus compared to the Asus U-series and Acer Timeline X - the battery does not work much. And there is another feature - a touchpoint. It would seem - what's the difference - the touchpad is still there, but no - many frown and say "I don't want to." If that doesn't bother you, take it, you won't regret it.

I took a Toshiba Tecra R10-118 a year ago (gave 32K in rubles), operated it in rather harsh conditions (I carried it with me constantly in public transport, dropped it many times). As a result, there are a lot of scuffs on the case, a glued-re-glued front panel, but it continues to work like a clock.
