Charging for penlight batteries, and modern batteries?

There is an old charger for finger batteries (I will use batteries for keyboard and mouse) Ansmann EC 250.
Suitable for AA, AAA, C, D. It
can charge both NiCd and MiMH batteries.
Question: I don’t know what modern batteries are now, and will they be suitable for this charger?
It's just that the charger is old, and already removed from production. You may not find such batteries for sale anymore.

Nothing has changed.
NiCd, as very poisonous - have been discontinued, you will find horseradish.
And NiMH - this is the very usual current ones. They have been doing this for hundreds of years and continue to do so.
And lithium batteries in AA or AAA format have not yet been invented. Only lithium batteries, but they cannot be recharged.
The key point (yes, nothing has changed here):
Memory effect - you can charge only after it is completely discharged.
If it charges half-discharged ones, then very soon their capacity will drop and they will last for a very short time.
But it is easy to treat - just by repeatedly discharging to zero (which, by the way, just like that, it is recommended to do it for prevention).
More modern and cool chargers differ only in:
1) There are high-speed chargers, equipped with fans for blowing while charging. Charge quickly, then the capacity of the batteries drops. And quickly
2) Smart chargers, they themselves can deal with the memory effect by multiple discharge-charge. But it takes a long time to charge.
That is, the usual old charging is quite suitable for new batteries in AA and AAA format.

Well, continue to charge these types of batteries if the charger is working.
Nobody canceled the physics of the charging process of NiCd, and MiMH batteries.
