Can you just solder the wire?

I flew charging from a poppy (magsafe 2), now there is no way to buy any at all. I saw this comment on a website:

When, due to power surges, two original charges for me and my wife died in a couple of days, and then a little later for a friend, and it was not possible to change it under warranty quickly.
I had to buy chargers for writing laptops and stupidly add a wire from Makovsky. For three years it has been working without problems with a Toshiba base for 20 bucks ...

Really, you can just solder the wire to the block of another laptop, or is it nonsense?

Are you sure it's the charger? There are known problems with charging ports ... Still, first you should try to see if another charge will work.
Apple chargers also have built-in voltage protection, if you have had a surge - you need to unplug the charger from the outlet for 1 minute, the relay will switch to normal mode and the charge should work. It is very difficult to kill an Apple charger, it is more likely that the wire just breaks - which can be resoldered.
Regarding your question - I think it’s possible, my USB-C charger has and it charges from anything, so we can safely conclude that the macbook is not whimsical ... But still, with laptops on magsafe 2 it can be different, no matter how all the actions at your own peril and risk, it is unlikely that anyone is doing something like this ... After all, a used charger is also around $ 20, it was not clear why buying from a PC)
