Changing the tld of the domain - what is the right way and will it be better this way?

Let's say I bought domain.aaa. After some time, half a year or a year, I understand that a domain in another domain zone is more suitable for me - domain.bbb Therefore, I do not renew the domain.aaa domain and buy the domain.bbb domain.
If it's been a year now, I don't 301 redirect to the new tld because I didn't renew the old domain. If it doesn't pass, then I do it.
Did I understand correctly that the domain.bbb domain itself would not have any advantage? Not a brand, but the domain itself.
That is, buying a domain.bbb domain after a year of using domain.aaa is the same as if you just buy a doamin.bbb domain for the 2nd year, and in the 1st year you don’t buy anything at all? That is, domain.aaa does not add trust to domain.bbb in any way?

with the option with a redirect, there will be an advantage over just a null domain.
because a site with an audience and a site without an audience are two completely different sites.
well, I would advise you to renew the old domain.
