Changing SMS sender number?
Is it possible to send an SMS to form a PDU packet of such content that instead of the sender's phone number (approx. +7916123456) there is a set of Latin characters (approx. GOOGLE)?
A well-known fact is that SMS sent by the operator, some companies or Google do not come from a number, but from a sender with a name written in Latin characters. Unfortunately, it is not clear whether a packet of such content is formed on the phone (modem) side or on the operator's side. If on the side of the phone (modem), then I want to know how to create a similar PDU package, or how it can be done at all.

The question is understandable, but, unfortunately, everything is not so simple.
Some phones provide such an opportunity, and it even works, the sender's number indicates a custom one, messages reach, are normally read by subscribers, but ... a real number or a fake number will be displayed depending on the phone model of the subscriber who receives messages.

I asked my former colleagues who the SMSC in the operator serve the time, they laughed it off and did not answer. So it is possible that there is such a possibility.
You can implement this by sending SMS from the Internet. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the program that I used 5 years ago for this. Anything can be written in the sender field.
The main thing when searching for this kind of programs / services is to keep your eyes open, tons of trojans, lockers and other rubbish always live somewhere nearby.
The question was the ability to independently change the sender without using third-party services or programs. Or is this possible only by agreement with the operator?
A packet with the name of the sender (often called the alpha name) is formed on the side of the operator (at the SMSC) / or the company of the message sender (in case you use your own SMSC connected via SS-7 (not to be confused with mailers that simply connect to the operator's SMSC via SMPP :)).
There is a yakoon program, it is in Russian, the cost of 1 SMS is about 2 rubles (this was the case before). You can send Cyrillic up to 70 characters, and Latin - up to 140 characters.
