Changing activities within the industry. How does this happen?
At work, they offered to change the type of activity from programming to project management. There was also a project the size of 15 man-months, which will be given to me. Questions of help and support from management and employees, of course, are not discussed. They offered me the best assistance right away. There remains one small problem - the feeling of the unknown. As a programmer, of course, I am worse than a manager, I always understood this, but so far, due to the lack of at least one completely completed project, I imagine everything at a superficial level. Attention, the question is: have you ever had cases of a sharp change in activity with insufficient experience? How did you deal with it? How is the process of “flowing” from one position to another?

Look at it from the other side, because there will be no finished project until you try it.
A sharp change in activity will not work well, in any way. All the same, you will need to dig into the code, transfer your affairs to someone, and again take the reins of government in a new position.
Here you need to take into account one important thing - project management is not a team lead, here you do not deal with the tasks yourself, but delegate everything to the people working in the project. The main thing is to clearly understand for what period you will transfer all your current powers and not under any pretext (unless the authorities force you) not to work directly with the code, but to engage in project activities (planning, management, tasks, etc.). Experience can be gained only by starting to work. Everyone started somewhere, and a dry theory, although it will help in something, but only in part.
Therefore, good luck and success. Dare, be confident in yourself, listen to advice, educate yourself and you will succeed!
