Can the "site" know that I'm using a VPN or a proxy server? How does he discover it?

Can the "site" know that I'm using a VPN or proxy server even if the VPN/proxy server is in my country (city)? And also under the conditions: the same VPN / proxy server is used or the VPN / proxy server is constantly changing.
How is this revealed?
How to avoid it?

Of course it can.
Geolocation shows that the IP is Virginia, USA. And the time zone is set to UTC+3 (Moscow). It is unlikely that a dude from Virginia will set himself a UTC + 3 time zone, but the opposite is easy.
Geolocation shows that the IP is France, and the languages \u200b\u200binstalled in the system are Russian, English. This is of course a weaker assumption - it may well turn out to be a Russian freelancer, but a
smaller MSS is taken into account than it can be with a simple Ethernet - because the VPN has its own header and it needs to be written somewhere. Moreover, by the size of the MSS, one can even assume what kind of tunnel is used - because for IPSec - it is one, but for GRE - another.
This is what first came to mind...

At a minimum, the difference in time zone and language between what's in the headers and the geo-referenced IP.
Indirectly by subnet ownership. The address of the same DO bears little resemblance to the address of a provider from Russia.
