Can modellist.php not exist in joomla?

In the code
jimport('joomla.application.component.modellist');
I also meet references to JModelList, but I can’t find the modellist.php itself. From the code it should be in /libraries/joomla/application/component/ ... but there is nothing like modellist.php in that folder. Does anyone know where else it could be stored?
