I would advise you to play it safe and look at the distribution license.
There are many pictures/photos whose authors allow them to be used anywhere - I would recommend using them. Or, there is an option - buy photos / pictures and get all the rights to them.
You are unlikely to be sued, but it is quite possible that they can write a complaint to your hoster. And then everything will depend on him.

Why not? Sure you can. Nobody cares about your little site. If you are afraid that someone might attract you to legal. responsibility, then at the very bottom of the sites with pictures there are conditions for using these same pictures.
By the way, you can use domestic sources of photographs.
