Can I use GitHub to get work?

My education is not complete, and there is no money to continue.
I want to work (not necessarily in IT) for some time and at the same time gain skills in open source projects on GitHub .
If I try to get a job in IT later, is there a chance that I will be hired after looking at my code?

Before stuffing the skill, get comfortable with the github.
Look: what he can do, how exactly to work with him, and so on.
If this has never been done - this is a week at least.
Once you get used to it, you can already do something and put your work on display.
Depending on the skill and code, later, you can be taken to some simple project if you finalize something new AND USEFUL in such a project and suggest editing.
When the skill grows up, your profile will already be interesting for employers and do not forget to leave your contacts there to contact you. And gradually leave applications for vacancies and attach a link to your github profile there.
