Can I get paid for the work if the client terminated the contract without warning?

Hello. A few days ago I took a contract for a decent amount for me from a customer from Europe. It was necessary to develop a website design (8 pages) and make them up. All this with one milestone (perhaps a mistake?).

I did almost all the design (about 90%), the client really liked it (which is confirmed by numerous reports). Roughly speaking, I did 40% of the work.

But today I wake up, and the client has finished the contract and added me to the emergency on Upwork, despite the fact that he reserved the money for me.

The question is, can I get compensation for the time spent and payment for the work done?
And I hope such "completions" do not affect the profile in a bad way?
