Can I connect two monitors to a laptop?

At the moment, there is an Asus k53sc laptop and an Acer 23 "V236HLbd monitor connected to it via a VGA connector.
Is it possible to somehow organize the connection of another monitor to this set (preferably the same one), so that each of them has its own desktop , and if so, what should be done for this?There is no second monitor yet, there is no way to poke around.

It is necessary to try, not all laptops with 2 monitor outputs can work with 3 screens.
There are also usb monitors, but this is for fairly static data.
