Can anyone explain to an idiot how to get started with Arduino?

Actually, the tasks are more than simple - to catch a signal, think about what to do with it, whether to send a stepper to the driver or not, etc.
Actually several inputs, several outputs and the logic of their processing. It is desirable, if possible, to write everything with the help of visual structures - who will tell you how to deal with all this?

I strongly recommend starting with this: arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage
These examples are already hardcoded in the Arduino IDE, but it is recommended for motor memory, memorization and understanding to type yourself.
Good lessons are still here: wiki.amperka.ru/
If anything, write in a personal.

So, I immediately ran into the choice of a shield for a 12v / 4a stepper - tell me, which one can withstand this?
